01Who we are, and what this covers

Filmsim Recipes ("Filmsim", "we", "us") operates filmsimrecipes.com, the Filmsim Recipes mobile app and the Filmsim shop (together, the "Service"). These terms form a binding agreement between you and Filmsim.

By browsing the site, creating an account, submitting a recipe or buying anything from us, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the Service.

Some parts of the Service have their own additional rules, the submission standard for recipes, and the shop's refund policy. Those sit alongside these terms rather than replacing them.

02Accounts

You can browse recipes without an account. To save recipes, build collections, publish your own or pair a camera, you need one.

• You must be at least 16 years old, or have permission from a parent or guardian.
• Give accurate information and keep your email address current, it is how we reach you about your subscription and your submissions.
• You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access.
• One account per person. Sharing a Pro account with other photographers is not permitted.

You can delete your account at any time from your profile. Deleting it removes your saved recipes, collections and notes. Recipes you published and photographs already credited in the community gallery may remain, since other people rely on them, you can ask us to remove those separately.

03Recipes and what they are

A recipe is a set of in-camera settings for a Fujifilm camera. It is descriptive information, not software, and it does not modify your camera's firmware.

Camera compatibility labels on the site are our best assessment, based on the fields each body exposes. They are guidance rather than a guarantee. Where a setting does not exist on your camera, we say so on the recipe page.

Sending settings to a camera happens in the Filmsim Recipes mobile app and requires a compatible body and current firmware. We are not responsible for changes Fujifilm makes to its cameras, firmware or connection protocols.

04What you publish

This section covers everything you submit: recipes, straight-out-of-camera photographs, profile details, notes and messages ("your content").

You keep your rights

You keep all copyright and ownership in your content. Nothing here transfers it to us.

The licence you give us

You grant Filmsim a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, resize, display and distribute your content within the Service, and to feature it in our own promotion of the Service, including the app, the homepage, our newsletter and our social accounts. We always credit you by the handle on your account. This licence lasts as long as your content is on the Service, plus a short period for backups and caches.

What you promise

• The content is yours, and you have the right to publish it.
• Photographs submitted as straight-out-of-camera are exactly that: unedited camera output. Cropping and rotation are fine; anything else is not.
• Recipe settings you publish are ones you have actually tested, on the bodies you list.
• Nothing you submit infringes someone else's rights, or is unlawful, misleading or abusive.

We review submissions and may reject, edit for clarity, unpublish or remove content that breaks these rules or the submission standard. Verified creators get faster review, not different rules.

05Our content and brand

The Service itself, the site, the app, our editorial writing, photography we commissioned, the design and the Filmsim name and logo, belongs to us or our licensors. You may not copy, scrape, resell or republish it without written permission.

You are welcome to shoot with any recipe on this site, write about it, and share your own photographs of the results. That is what it is for. Bulk-copying our recipe database into another product is not.

Fujifilm, X-Trans, Classic Negative, Classic Chrome, Nostalgic Neg., Acros, Velvia, Eterna, Astia and Pro Neg. are trademarks of FUJIFILM Corporation. Filmsim is independent and not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by FUJIFILM.

06Filmsim Pro subscriptions

Pro is a paid subscription. The free tier stays free.

Pro is sold as an in-app purchase through the App Store or Google Play. That store handles billing, renewal and cancellation under its own terms, and you manage the subscription there rather than with us.

07Shop purchases and refunds

Digital products in the shop, such as preset or recipe packs, are delivered as an instant download after payment.

Under EU consumer law you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a digital purchase. Because these files are delivered immediately, you agree at checkout that the download starts straight away and that your right of withdrawal ends once it does.

That said, we would rather you were happy than technically bound: if a pack does not work as described, or will not load on the camera or software it lists, write to us within 14 days and we will fix it or refund you.

Pro members receive the discount shown in the shop at the time of purchase. Discounts are not retroactive.

08Acceptable use

Use the Service as a photographer would. Specifically, do not:

• Scrape, crawl or bulk-download recipes, photographs or user data.
• Pass off someone else's recipe or photograph as your own.
• Submit edited images as straight-out-of-camera frames.
• Interfere with the Service, probe it for vulnerabilities, or attempt to access accounts that are not yours.
• Use the Service to harass anyone, or to post unlawful or hateful material.
• Resell Pro access, or share one account across several photographers.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules. Where it is proportionate we will warn you first and explain what we found.

09Availability and changes

We work to keep the Service running, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Maintenance, updates and problems at our providers can all cause downtime.

We may add, change or withdraw features. If we make a change that materially reduces what a paid plan gives you, we will tell you before it takes effect and you may cancel for a refund of the unused period.

We may update these terms. When changes are material we will email account holders and update the date at the top of this page at least 14 days before they apply. Continuing to use the Service after that date means you accept the new version.

10Liability

The Service and its recipes are provided as they are. We give no warranty that a recipe will suit your camera, your subject or your taste.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost photographs, lost income or missed opportunities arising from your use of the Service. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or €50.

11Privacy and cookies

How we handle your personal data, what we collect, why, how long we keep it and how to get a copy or have it deleted, is set out in our privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.

Photographs you upload may contain EXIF metadata, including camera, lens and settings. We read the camera and settings fields to label recipes and frames. We strip precise GPS coordinates from public display.

12Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Portugal. If you are a consumer resident in the EU, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts.

Before going anywhere near a court, write to us. Most disputes turn out to be a misunderstanding about a subscription date or a rejected submission, and we can usually resolve them within a few days.
